About Us

The London Speech Workshop was set up to respond to a demand for high quality, affordable, accent softening and English pronunciation courses and private tuition in central London.

At the London Speech Workshop, we pride ourselves on really caring about each individual student, their progress and development, and making sure that everyone gets the attention they need to really improve. Communication is so central in our world, and we understand that it can feel so difficult if you have all the words you need to articulate your thoughts, and yet are held back by difficulty in transmitting them.

Our courses are designed to give each individual a sense of confidence when speaking English, and we are constantly developing and improving our courses with that end in mind. Our aim is to give our students a window into the delights of the English Language, teach accurate pronunciation and improve communication skills, whilst ensuring each student receives plenty of personal attention, all at affordable prices. Course Director and London Speech Workshop Founder Emma Serlin

London Speech Workshop was founded by Emma in 2008, when after working with private clients for several years, she saw there was a demand for high quality courses in English Pronunciation.

The aim of London Speech Workshop is to provide high quality accent softening courses, which offer each student personal attention, and yet are available at affordable prices.

Emma has developed the courses after analyzing her successes with her private clients, and continues to offer the focused and passionate teaching which has characterized her private work.

Emma trained in phonetics whilst at Oxford School of Drama in 2003, from there she went on to become a successful theatre director and producer, and she worked for several years running her own company. Emma then transferred her skills to elocution and accent softening, working with clients from across the globe, helping them reduce their accents. Her background as a theatre director informs her current work, bringing a creative element, and the joy of speech and melody into training in spoken English.

London Speech Workshop Tutors:

Laura Allsop graduated from Cambridge University with an English Literature degree and has been tutoring for several years as well as working as a writer and editor. She is currently taking time out to write her novel. She speaks fluent Italian and has an excellent ear for languages. She has been training with London Speech Workshop since December 2009.
