Our Coaches – Jo Tincey
All our coaches are voice professionals with years of experience both in voice, communication and teaching and training. They are handpicked after an extensive interview process, for their ear, their expertise, their warmth and that special je ne sais quoi! Every one of our coaches has gone through extensive training in The Serlin Method™ in addition to their own training.
I’ve had a varied career journey with one unifying theme: humans talking to other humans! At first, the conversations I was drawn to were fictional; having studied English Literature at University, I went on to train as an actor at RADA and then worked for 10 years as an Actor and as a Writer, Creative Producer.
Over the last 10 years, I have also worked in the field of corporate communication: exploring what it takes to have creative, impactful and meaningful dialogue of the non-fictional kind. I have designed and delivered more than 50 communication skills training programmes for the Corporate sector on: feedback skills, employee engagement, inclusive leadership, assertiveness, collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills. I’ve worked in the UK, the US and Europe, with people in Tech, Financial Services, Arts Organisations, Schools, Universities and Youth Groups. I’ve also worked 1-2-1 with leaders to help them hone the way they communicate with their teams and present themselves to a wider audience.
What I have been fascinated to discover, is that the principles of great communication are pretty consistent, whether the conversation is happening socially, within a company culture, in the classroom, with your family, with your team, with your boss or while performing to an audience of 200 strangers. Once you have identified and mastered these principles (which can absolutely be learned) they are transferable and transformational! Being able to tell your story, share your experience and expertise, pitch your idea, or speak up about a change you want to see, builds a sense of ownership, engagement and value. It’s key to that sense of purpose and fulfilment.
I am hugely inspired every day watching my clients use the Serlin method to connect to the power of their own voice, the value of their unique perspective and the tools they need to effectively share those with the rest of the world.
